Round Report

The final round of the Vilamoura trip saw Shanker (Grant) maintain a firm grip on the lead from start to finish, while Parks dazzled with the best gross score and some sharp needlework around the pins.

A One-Man Show from the Get-Go

It was all Shanker (Grant) from the off, leading the charge with 7 points just three holes in. By the halfway mark, he’d already pulled ahead by a country mile with 15 points at the turn. His relentless march didn’t falter as he rounded the final stretch; 20 points through twelve holes, rising to 25 at fifteen, finally sealing the clubhouse lead on 31 points. Talk about hogging the limelight!

Parks Proves Consistency Is King

While Shanker (Grant) was collecting points, Parks was quietly putting together the best gross round of the day with a neat 95. Not only did he keep five pars under his belt — the most of anyone — but he made an impressive leap from tenth place at the front nine to fifth by the finish. If golf were a game of patience, Parks just earned his doctorate.

Back Nine Drama Unfolds

The second half of the round was where the real shuffle happened. The leaderboard didn’t just shuffle; it danced. Shanker (Grant) added a hefty 16 points after the turn, showing the final nine holes at Millennium demanded both skill and stamina. Meanwhile, others weren’t as fortunate — Gal racked up a hefty seven bogeys and Jake the Snake suffered 14 double-bogeys or worse. Ouch.

Special Mentions and Competitions' Final Bow

Besides the headline showdown, there were plenty of noteworthy side stories. Satch flexed his muscles by smashing out the longest drive at 272 yards, claiming a tidy £20 prize. Parks, never one to miss a trick, won the Closest to the Pin with a 30-foot beauty, pocketing an extra £20. Meanwhile, the duo Con and Parks strolled off with the Blind Pairs overall title, bagging £50 each.

Interestingly, Shanker (Grant) didn’t just win the round; he also claimed the Singles competition prize of £60, while Parks was crowned the Overall Singles champion, netting himself a cool £100. Not too shabby!

And That, Ladies and Gents, Is All She Wrote

With the final round wrapped up and no more rounds to play, the Vilamoura trip has officially closed its chapter. Shanker (Grant) emerged victorious in the Singles, Parks showed why he’s a force to reckon with in gross scoring and pin precision, and Satch reminded us all that distance can sometimes bring dividends.

A week full of twists, turns, and tantalising golf has ended on a high note — and somewhere out there, Jake the Snake is hopefully finding a nice cold drink.
